I was out running several years ago when an idea hit me like a bee on a helmet (that happened to me on a motorcycle once). I knew it was a good idea because I couldn’t remember the route I took to get home. So I did what I knew to do; I stood at the kitchen counter and quickly wrote the bullet points of my idea down on paper.

A creative life is an amplified life. It’s a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner—continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you—is a fine art, in and of itself. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

That project has profoundly changed hundreds of lives, launched countless businesses, and brought in over $1M in revenue. But, more importantly, that idea brought me a never-ending supply of joy and a creative outlet for my passion for writing, coaching and breathing life into the dreams of others.

I know you have ideas and creativity within you, too—ideas that will change lives, including your own.

The American Society of Training and Development did a study in 2010 on accountability and found that the probability of completing a goal if you:

  • have an IDEA, is 10%
  • decide WHEN you will do it, is 40%
  • PLAN how you will do it is 50%
  • COMMIT to someone else you will do it, is 65%
  • have a specific ACCOUNTABILITY appointment with the person you’ve committed to, is 95%

I want you to have a great life and to have the courage to launch your dreams, so I want to share with you some of the secrets I applied that got me where I am today. Here are some tangible actions you can take to get started on your dream journey.

Consider that a dream without a plan is like a plant without water. So, write your rough ideas down, including a clear and explicit declaration of the result you intend to produce and the date you will produce it by. Your heart may be pounding as you write, and you may have absolutely no idea how to follow through on what’s pouring out of your soul. Keep going!

Begin telling people and be strategic about it. Skip the show, glitz, bragging or glamour. Tell people who will remember to ask you, “how’s that idea going?” Choose people who champion you and will hold you lovingly accountable.

Don’t be alarmed when dreamer’s remorse shows up. Exactly like buyer’s remorse, what seemed like a great idea today might feel like the worst idea of your life tomorrow or even weeks down the road. Keep going!

Commit with 100% of your being, over and over and over again. And when you do, be prepared for amazing things to happen; chance encounters with folks who give you the answer to something you’ve been puzzling over, finding your first customer at the grocery store, bumping into a friend who wants to provide you with seed money. Keep going!

Set up scaffolding around your dream. Profoundly know yourself, all the ways you know you’ll self-sabotage. Prepare for all the sneaky ways your Survival Mechanism/Gremlin/Shadow Self will cast doubt over your dream. Keep going!

After coaching for 20+ years, I’ve got many secrets to share and ways to evoke the treasures hidden deep within you.

Together let’s turn your dreams into a fulfilling, soul-nourishing business.

The problem with writing “content that sells”

I have mostly silenced my social media presence as I explore my experience and thoughts about the social media I currently use. I have a big issue with posting on channels that continue to spew one-liners that people then take and do weird things with, such as self-harming or diagnosing others. Take a look at what you do with the posts you read and their effect on your mental health and creativity.
