Coaching for situations unique to entrepreneurs.
My business is profitable and successful. I'd like to scale but I have no idea how.
Now there’s a great problem to have! Congratulations on the success of your business, scaling has many different angles to it including exploring where you might be holding back or resisting growth. Upper limit issues, fear of success, worrying about breaking your systems, not having enough staffing… These are just a few of the things that entrepreneurs cope with solo on the daily, even with supportive partners and/or family. We cover that and more through coaching.
I have a burning desire to start a business but I don't know if I have the right mindset and enough resilience to see it through.
The thing about mindset is, once you choose the business you’re going to launch, commit fully. It’s okay to be afraid, but be all in and be decisive. Coaching with me includes holding you accountable to follow through, fully commit and to be unstoppable in creating an incredible business. Set a time frame where you’ll take quitting completely off the table and then go for it. And as for resilience, it’s built by navigating bumps so go create bumps and develop resilience along the way.
I'd like to build long-term customer relationships and loyalty, I'd like to do something creative but don't know where to start.
Relationships are to be nurtured and cared for, if you’re loyal to your customers and you treat them the way you would a long-term relationship, you’ll do fantastic in business. This is also a way to be your brand, what experience do you want your customers to have when they engage with you and your company? Build trust, be honest, act with integrity and love what you do. It will shine through!
How do I craft effective sales techniques and customer acquisition strategies that I can then train other staff to be responsible for?
I think the question answered above applies to this question, along with keeping an outline of every step taken as you engage in the first sales of the business. I’m a firm believer in tracking, number of calls you make, reaches, where you meet people, etc. I’m very thorough when supporting folks to learn about sales and customer acquisition, I’ve had lots of practice and lots of training that I like to share. It’s all in our mindset too, you can fall in love with sales and customer acquisition with some work on your context and beliefs. I love this work, it actually improves your personal relationships too!
I'd like to build my business to a place where it is thriving.
Sometimes this is a trick statement with clients and we must first define what thriving means to them. I’ll spend some time with facts and figures but I’m more interested in the experience clients long for. What’s the thing you thought you’d experience when you first dreamed this business into being?
I'd like to turn up the volume in my leadership and cause our business to hit a financial goal we've never hit before.
My tail started to wag when I thought about this question. First of all, the minute you begin dreaming about a new goal, you're now on the way to achieving it. Second of all, it's natural to think that turning up the volume on your leadership will be the answer to it all. That can sound like, if only I were more powerful, more intelligent, more creative then I’d be able to achieve x, y and z. Achieving this one will require you to shift your leadership but not in the way you’re thinking. The best part is that what you desire is entirely possible.
I'd like to communicate authentically, which means standing up to some harsh critics and walking through some fire in order to cause much needed policy change in my business.
I'm drawn to the charged language, “harsh critic”, “stand up to”, “walk through fire”. It already tells a story of a particular way you're experiencing your world. Before even speaking with you, you've provided me with some areas to explore when they arise again in our session. What makes me so sure these areas will come up? Oh, it will, there’s something extraordinary hidden behind the use of such colourful language.
I'm thinking of getting a divorce, I'm uncertain and scared because we own our business together.
I’ve coached many individuals and couples on the verge of divorce who are also business partners. This type of engagement is definitely heart work. Sometimes the outcome still ends in divorce but when I’m involved it hs the best chance to produce an ending that is peaceful and healthy for everyone involved including the business. Ontological work is extremely powerful in the domain of communication and relationships.

Frequently asked questions
Ask lots of questions before coaching, it’s a great way to get to know me. Your next steps will become clear the more facts you have and then, armed with the facts, all that’s next is to CHOOSE.
What's your experience with entrepreneurship?
I’ve owned several successful businesses, I began entrepreneurship in the 90’s in our family owned legal research company where I utilized my earlier training in law and learned excellent customer service skills from my folks. I’ve also been a realtor, a mortgage broker and worked in several sales positions which I loved and thrived in. My coaching business has been my longest business venture.
What's been the most challenging thing about being an entrepreneur?
The extreme toll that self-employment has on your mental health. I’ve utilized the support of my own coach, mentors and advisors but at the end of the day, there’s only me making the decisions. There have been some tough decisions I’ve had to make and many times that I felt like quitting but I kept going and that’s where you build the resilience that everyone talks about.
What advice do you have for someone who's just starting out in their business?
Despite the fact that it’s one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, it’s been worth every second. The freedom, the flexibility and the ability to grow and expand because I say so has been priceless and so rewarding. Plus I love what I do. If you have a dream, launch it and live a life worth living.
How do you navigate family life when you and your wife are both self-employed?
Sometimes it’s tricky, sometimes it’s perfect. We have boundaries and we collaborate. We can be great sounding boards for each other but without the boundaries, we’d talk about our businesses 24/7. We need to remind each other to take time-outs. We both share the same work ethic so that helps, sometimes we agree
